Find a place in the natural world that calls to you, no matter how small. At the very least, find a tree to sit against. Get comfortable, and close your eyes. Breathe deeply.
When you are relaxed and calm, reach out w/ your senses. Become aware of the ground beneath you, the tree at your back, the air on your face. Spend a few moments learning the place you are at, listening to the wind in the treetop or the birds or even the traffic noise. Then, begin to extend your awareness, stretching little by little until you are aware of the next few feet, then the next. With each breath out, let your awareness expand from your body. What does it tell you about the world that surrounds you? Can you "feel" specific forms, such as animals, people, buildings? Is it more of a shimmer to your subconscious? How do you perceive the energy of your environment?
Reach out farther, and now visualize your awareness as the thin strands of a shining web. Let the web spin itself outward, taking your mind with it, farther and farther away the trees away from your body. See how the web connects you to the grass the trees, the people passing by, and eventually to everything that lives. You sit at the center, for this one moment, while the web spins ever outward, joining you to all creation one strand at a time. With each choice, each interaction, each event, the web shifts a little, and the future changes; still you remain connected, bound to the land beneath you and the sky above. All laughter, all of the pain, all of the life and death and never-ending change of the world flow through you, around you, with you. As you inhale, all beings of the Earth inhale. You are the weaver, your are the woven, you are the web.
Eventually, begin to draw the strands of the web back toward your body, one breath at a time. Although you are still joined with everything--and always will be--your awareness returns to your individual self. Your breath becomes your own again, and you can look out through your own eyes at the world that lives through you.
