Druidic Magick Exercises
The element of spirit does not exist in druidic magick. Druids believe fire was the spirit. Fire is the source, it is symbolism of the divine, a visible symbol. Each of us have a spark, a divine spark, off the great flame or the source. It has been questioned as to whether this is a physical or spiritual spark, some people believe it is in the mitochondria in our body. Mitochondria is an unexplained thing in every cell in our body. Scientists are lost as to what they do.
Fire
Even today, science cannot describe what is its chemical makeup, all they know is, it is combustion or molecules moving with enormous speed. Druids believed that each thing gave off a vibration, the higher the vibration the closer to the divine it was and the more active it was and the more dangerous. This same philosophy holds true in science today. In science they are called frequencies, when a frequency is too high it is not visible, the same as if it is too low. Hence the underworld and the overworld. Funny how a religion so despised by today holds the same philosophy that scientists have just figured out.
Meditation Technique
An easy meditation that has been used for centuries by differing cultures, is the flame and the void. Imagine a fire in your mind. Feed all emotions, all thought, but what you are trying to do, into that fire, watch as they disappear into the void of creation. Feel your self empty and just living for the moment. Know with no thoughts that which you wish to do, continue with your practice. Very simple meditation that anyone can do with a little practice.
Sensing Energy Flows
Meditate and try to become aware of the energy flows in you. When you are able to feel them move on to things outside the body. Sit by a tree and try to feel its energy, become one with it, feel what it feels, the birds in its branches, its roots drinking of the earth, feel its energy flow. Warning: try to be careful of things you try to sense, some things have become tainted by corruption of society and may not be very nice. Also this exercise can be quite intoxicating, do it, but practice with caution, don't become addicted to it.
Grounding
Grounding is an important meditation technique that performs the same as the flame and void technique but can also differ. It can be used to cleanse like the flame and void or used to gain energy into you. This poem will explain its workings.
Tree meditation:
Let our minds go clear and free,
and form the image of a tree,
A youthful sapling of the glade,
whose budding branches cast no shade.
Around this tender supple youth,
are seen the forbearers growth,
Those forest elders strong and wise,
who nurture those of lesser size.
So close you eyes and in your mind,
become one of the spirit kind.
Cast off your cares and disbelief,
and enter the tree from root to leaf,
Relax and breath and center will,
then let the peace within you swell.
Till it is a thing so profound,
now send it deep into the ground.
In every tender little root,
feel the water flow and transmute.
The sap will flow through every vein,
the link to our ancestors we regain.
Now let the sap rise in a flood,
and race to every branch and bud.
Each branch extend to the air,
each leaf unfold in green so fair.
The gentle falcons toss each bough,
and to you calming breaths endow.
While rays of golden summer light,
give warmth and lend their powers might
Let water rise and fire descend,
and lively air the branches bend;
Thus firmly planted in the earth,
the elements give us rebirth.
Now let every green entwine,
and form our sacred grove divine.
With branch and root our circles form,
and magic from mundane transform.
We are all rooted just the same,
we feel the same supernal flame.
We drink the water free to all,
we hear the airy call.
Now let us feel our spirits surge,
and into one great spirit merge.
Ending the Tree Meditation:
Now this ritual must end,
Back to our homes we must attend.
Again we cleanse our mind and heart,
the branches shrink and pull apart.
The roots untie and backwards turn,
and spirit fire less brightly burns,
Let water sink, let fire go,
let gentle falcons homeward flow.
And as if in a cleansing rain,
become a single tree again.
Then from this tree, your soul breaks loose,
a being free.
Your body calls your spirit flies,
returns you slowly open your eyes.
On Magical Workings
All things in a magical working must be willing, never take, or use without permission. If you use an herb, ask if it wishes to give its self as sacrifice to the cause, before pulling it from the ground, never cast a spell on a person against their will, lest to save their very life from death, like if they were sick. Always ask, never take.
