Spring is the season of air. It is the beginning of life and of growth. So we turn our faces to the east and watch the sun rise and mature giving it's warmth again to the earth.
Now begins the time of the first fertile time as the first signs of spring grace us with thier presence. The grass begins to green the the flowers begin to bloom. Animals begin to consider mating again and humans get that "itch". It is a time for renewal.
The name "Ostara" comes from the goddess Eostre who, as legend says, turned a bird into a rabbit and made it lay colored eggs for some children that she was entertaining. The Christians also derive the name of their holiday "Easter" from Her name.
ABOUT THE EGG
The egg is a symbol of fertility. It is also the symbol of the God and Goddess. The white of the egg is representing of the all encompasing nature of the Goddess while the yolk is the symbol of the God's fertility. The shell represents the combined togetherness of the God and the Goddess, binding them together for all eternity. Seeds also resemble the egg. Therefore, we can say: "All life comes from the egg."
