13. RULES FOR MANIFESTING
VISUALIZATIONS
To manifest, to bring about those things in your life, you will need to tell your inner self, the little child, exactly what you want and need. Remember that the inner child is the doer. Your conscious mind is the decision maker. Now, the inner child only sees what you image or imagine, what you picture in your mind. And, from its own experience, it has learned not to manifest, not to bring into your life, what you have pictured in your mind. Let me give you a couple of examples:
<DIR> <DIR>
You have often, when making decisions, visualized things that you never ever would want to happen: You may have read a newspaper account of a storm or fire that demolished a home and began thinking about insurance for your home. And, while thinking about home owners insurance, you have then thought about what that would mean if your own home were demolished, your conscious mind actually visualizing what your home would look like if it were totally destroyed.
</DIR></DIR>
How about a time when you've thought, "If he does that to me, I'll really get even. Why, I'll do ... (whatever, etc.)" And then he does do that which you did not want. But you don't really do and don’t even want to do whatever you thought of as "getting even."
<DIR> <DIR>
Maybe, like I have done, you see a highway patrol officer giving a ticket to a motorist. And, you begin to think: "Oh boy, if he gives me a ticket, I'll go to court and fight it all the way to the Supreme Court, if I have to." And, then, you begin visualizing the court trial and the nasty questions you'll ask the Highway Patrol Officer while he’s on the witness stand. Of course, by now the incident you saw is miles behind you, but your mind is still visualizing the imagined situation.
</DIR></DIR>
Well, the truth is, you don't really want those events to happen at all, but your mind has been actively visualizing the events. And, it is your visualizations that the inner child sees. He doesn't understand the "I don't want this to happen" aspect. It just doesn't work that way. The subconscious does not understand negatives. So, anything you are deliberately and intentionally providing as an image to your subconsciousness must be presented as a positive image. When you do the Armour of Light affirmation you are presenting a positive image to your mind, to the child within. You do not present negative images to your consciousness and then say: "I don't want those evil things to
happen to me." In fact, you should present nothing that is of a negative nature to your mind. You should present only positive images.
Now, admittedly, it is necessary to consider events and circumstances that you don't want to happen, such as when you are making decisions or when deciding on a course of action. So, what we will be involved in here will be a sort of twofold task. First, we need to develop the ability to visualize what you want to occur. Second, we will need to develop a technique of communicating to our subconscious a go ahead signal, a way of letting the subconscious know that, with the image you are visualizing at the moment, you do mean business--that this image is what you really want to occur, to happen, to come about.
PRINCIPLES OF MANIFESTING
In the next few lessons, we will get into specific techniques that you can use to bring into your life the things you want. Now there are a number of conditions that you should be aware of when you are working to manifest those things that you want and desire. In this lesson, we will consider these conditions and how they work. Unfortunately, the older you are when you start to manifest by using your inner child or your subconscious to bring about the changes you want and to bring the things you desire into your life, the more difficult it is–at least at the start. This is because you have built up a long list of visualizations of things and events that you don't really want and other things and events that your inner child has recognized as dangerous, unwanted, or as otherwise very undesirable. You didn't really want to go to traffic court did you? And, you really didn't want the circumstances to arrive where you would need to collect the home owner's insurance, did you?
When we get to actual techniques, we will be working in ways that will attract the attention and cooperation of the inner child. So, we need to be aware that only positive thoughts and images should be sent to our subconscious. Your conscious mind sets up images, pictures that the subconscious sees. I don't see any way of getting out of sometimes looking or creating negative images in our minds. We do have to consider alternates and hazzards, etc. So, the trick is to have a way of telling, of signaling the subconscious when we really want something to happen.
One great and powerful way is through the use of rituals–ceremonial magic as it is called by some. The secret of its effectiveness is that the Inner Child looks and says "Wow, my conscious mind must really want this. Look at all the time and energy he's putting into it." Rituals and Ceremonials for Manifestation will be covered in an advanced course.
CONDITIONS AND CHOICES
I think it is appropriate for us to consider some of the mental-emotional problems that may be handicaps to manifesting before we get into actual techniques. The four cardinal rules of manifesting are these: Know, Will, Dare and Keep Silent. We shall look at each one of these principles carefully. But, before examining these Four Principles one by one, let's take a look at the conditions and problems we have in the process of manifesting itself.
Conditions for Manifesting
I think that all who have been drawn to these lessons are aware that we actually live in two worlds at once. One world is the everyday world of things and objects and people and our physical bodies. Then there is the second world--the world of mind, of thought, of psychic experience--a world that is often called "the Unseen World." It is this latter world in which the powers that bring about manifestation occur.
Dr. Wayne W. Dyer, in his excellent book, Manifest Your Destiny, sets forth nine principles to bringing about the conditions you want in your life and the material things that will allow you to fulfill your destiny. He said, most interestingly: "When you stay plugged into group consciousness, you are really saying, ‘I choose to evolve slowly’." And, these classes, as they have been structured, are for those of us who have elected to set forth with deliberate intent upon the Spiritual Path, the Path of Light. So, we are breaking out of that group conscious- ness. Now, the Universe becomes ours in which to manifest whatever is our heart’s desire.
The principles that Dr. Dyer sets forth are these:
<DIR> <DIR> <DIR>
1. Become aware of your Highest Self. Understand and realize you are more than just a physical being.
2. Trust your own Inner Wisdom. You are an aspect, a manifestation of God or of the Ultimate Reality (however you define it).
3. See yourself as an organic part of the world around you. You are not separate or distinct from the world you live in.
4. You can attract to yourself what you desire. You are already connected to what it is that you seek.
5. Honor Yourself as worthy to receive--you are worthy to receive what you want and desire.
6. Connect to your Power Source with Divine Love--This is the Love that is being at harmony with your environment.
</DIR></DIR></DIR>
7. Meditate to the Sound of Creation. This sound is the "aaah" sound found in almost every Divine Name of the Creator: Buddha (Bud-aaah), God (Ga-aaahd), Jehovah (YE-ho-vaaah), Allah (All-aaah). That is, chant
the Divine Name in meditation, feeling the "aaaah" as vibrating out of your chakras and connecting to whatever it is that you wish to manifest. (We'll look at this more closely in a following lesson). The "Aaah" is the sound of creation. Also, you may use "Om," which is the sound of gratitude for what you receive.
8. Detach from the outcome. Let things flow to you without impatience. Maintain a confident attitude.
9. Be grateful and generous. Let that which you no longer need or want flow away from you, that what you now seek to manifest may come in.
We will look at Dr. Dyer's meditative technique more carefully in a following lesson.
Making the Choices for Manifesting
One fundamental question that often arises is: "How can I be certain that what I want to manifest will be something that I ought to manifest? This is not an easy question to answer.
Obviously, if what you want is a new car to replace your older car, there shouldn't be much concern as to whether it's right or wrong for you. But, some things--a new job, a move to a new location, etc. may have serious consequences. It is easy to say "I want such-and-such" and it may even seem a good thing at the time. But as time passes, whatever you manifested may turn out to be not as desirable as it did when you manifested it. Later experience may prove you have not chosen wisely. And, there may be consequences which might affect others.
To be sure, we may chalk it up to a learning experience when we manifest something in our lives and it turns out as wrong for us. But, we do need to develop the ability to tap into the Divine Wisdom that is ours. Rather than deciding that XYZ is what I want and plunging ahead to have it manifest, I should first to take the idea into meditation, asking "is this really right for me?" It's hard to describe, but when you pick on something to manifest, and it is right for you, there's a sort of inner knowing that says "Yes!" And, you just know it's right. This is especially true, if whatever it is links to your spiritual path.
Some things don't matter much. If for some reason you elect to manifest an ice cream cone, the Universe doesn't much care whether it's Pecan Crunch or Strawberry ice cream. There should be little concern about manifesting the things and the events which contribute to your own personal welfare and livelihood, as long as these items to be manifested are not injurious to others. Replacing an old automobile with a new one, should seldom be something to hesitate about. Finding a new house or apartment would be unlikely to cause injury to others. The over-riding rule is that we do not interfere with any other person’s free will. Each person is entitled to do whatever he or she wants (or perhaps needs to do as a learning experience).
But, we do have the right to protect others whose free will would be impaired by whatever someone else is doing. This is one of Dr. Dyer's principles--that you are not separate from the rest of the world. Everything is linked to you, everything is a part of you, and you are a part of everything. We do have the obligation to help and protect others.
