12. WORKING WITH YOUR DREAMS
TYPES OF DREAMS
Invasive Dreams
Just a few items to keep in mind when having an unusual dream:
<DIR> <DIR>
1. Your body is often symbolized in dreams as an automobile or a house or an apartment. If you dream of someone coming to an apartment or to a house that you are in alone, it is a good indication that you are being invaded by a negative entity. If you are in an automobile, and someone asks for a ride and gets into the car, this too is a likely invasion of your being. An obvious indicator when you dream is you are sleeping in bed and someone gets into bed with you. In this latter case, the entity apparently getting into bed with you could well be an incubus or a succubus (a form of astral parasite).
2. A more insidious form of an invasion that is presented during a dream is where a medical situation is presented. Some entity who purports to be a doctor or nurse attempts to give you some vile medicine to drink or attempts to give you an injection or tries to perform some other invasive procedure. Or, you may be offered some food or drink for you to consume.
</DIR></DIR>
These above dream formats are presented to your mind in such a way as to fool your inner child into giving his or her permission to allow the invasion of your being, by accepting that medical procedure, taking the food or drink, or by letting someone into your beingness, as symbolized by your bed, house or automobile, etc. In any of these cases, use the Cleansing and Sealing Ritual, followed by the Armour of Light or by some other protective ritual just as soon as you wake up. Amazingly, you will find that eventually your inner child or dream consciousness will begin to use these affirmations inside the dream itself. And, when the child does use the Armour of Light affirmation in a dream, you’ll find it to be a most interesting experience.
Negative Dreams
I'm fairly convinced that dreams are only partly generated internally in our minds, that much of our dream content comes from elsewhere, from other minds. Negative dreams indicate you are susceptible to someone else's projections. If you use the Armour of Light and the Wall of Spiritual Fire affirmations before bed, you shouldn't get any negative dreams at all. For myself, I just made up my mind one day I wasn’t going to put up with negative dreams any more. Now, the only times I ever get unpleasant dreams is when I don't use the Armour and Protection affirmations.
<DIR> <DIR>
Long before I learned the Amour of Light affirmation, I was troubled by recurrent dreams or nightmares where some one would be chasing me. I started carrying a dagger to bed with me, holding it in my hand during the night. Finally, one night I was again being chased in my dream. My inner child had caught on to the significance of my taking the dagger to bed with me. My dream-self turned around and stuck the pursuer with the astral image of that dagger. Since then, I've never had any more "I'm being chased" dreams.
You may at some time experience dreams where you are aware of others outside your apartment or house while you are inside. Or, perhaps, you may be aware of just voices talking, perhaps unintelligibly, outside the house. These are indications that the Armour of Light and other protection techniques that you are using are effectively keeping out those who you would not wish to encounter.
</DIR></DIR>
Instructional Dreams
If you dream of being in school, this will often indicate that you are being taught by your spiritual guides. While you may not consciously remember what you were taught, or, if what you were taught seems garbled or weird or doesn't make sense, nevertheless the teachings have been imbedded into your subconscious and the information in the teachings will return to you as flashes of intuition when you need to apply the information imparted in that astral school. But try to record what you do remember of the dream in your Spiritual Journal. Was there a special instructor? What subject was being taught?
Friends and Lovers in Dreams
I remember many years ago when I was in the military, there were two guys in the barracks who were close buddies. These two young men would often be in each other's dreams and would dream more or less the same dream content. Interestingly, both would talk aloud in their sleep to each other. It is not uncommon for spiritually linked persons (a husband and wife, for example) to have much the same dream content. It is not uncommon to tap into or share the dreams of a close friend or loved one, even if that person is physically hundreds of miles away. I would frequently dream of, share the dreams of the problems, concerns and difficulties of which my
father was dreaming, though I had no waking knowledge of his concerns. If you are quite close to a pet animal, it may well be that your animal and you will share a mutual dream.
Dreaming of Water
Flowing water is a symbol of internal cleansing. You may see this as a flowing stream of water. If your dream includes a house or apartment, you may see water flowing through pipes, plumbing fixtures, anything from the kitchen sink to bathroom fixtures. If you have been using the Triune Ray to cleanse your memory of old painful memories and to clear out old problems, you may dream of flowing water.
Stagnant water is the symbol of the need to clean out your memories and emotions of old hurtful memories, hangups and the like. Use the Triune Ray to cleanse these areas. Often the problem area will be symbolized in association with the stagnant water.
Crystal clear pools (or lakes) are usually the expression of your inner child or subconsciousness attempting to reflect your Higher Self to your self consciousness. Communication between the Self Consciousness and the Higher Self is usually if not always accomplished through the Inner Child who becomes a clear mirror or reflecting pool. You may think of the Inner Child as attempting to open both the door to Self Consciousness and the door at the other end of the room to the Higher Self at the same time.
Dreaming of Houses
A house usually represents your beingness, your physical body and your mental and emotional vehicles. The attic of a multi-storied house will be associated with your high self and any objects you find there will usually be symbols of latent powers you may be able to develop and use as you progress spiritually. The basement is often where the more unpleasant parts of your consciousness, where hangups and undesirable habit patterns will be stored. But this is not invariable. You might find yourself dreaming of a multi-storied house in which each floor represents one of your chakras, the basement or bottom floor symbolizing the root chakra, while the attic or top story represents your crown chakra.
Those from the dark side will appear with some flaw in their being. Examples include the one-eyed young man/lady, Teresa of Avila reported a pseudo-Jesus with a limp.
DREAM PROGRAMMING
Lucid Dreams
You may actually determine your own dreams and decide what you want in your dreams. Maybe you’ll want to talk to your angelic guides, or attend a class on spiritual development, or maybe visit with someone departed who has been close to you. You can gain some direction and control of your dreams if you use an affirmation like:
<DIR> <DIR>
In the NAME, through the POWER and by the WORD of the Lord Christ Jesus [or your own Power Name], I direct that I dream lucidly tonight, that my conscious mind is aware and alert and that I remember everything that occurs during my dream state. And I thank the Father [or your Power Source] that whatever I ask in His Son's name [or your Power Name] is granted. AMEN.
</DIR></DIR>
You can alter that affirmation to fit what exactly you want, and you can say it silently just before going to sleep– silently but dramatically. And, of course, you should use your own Power Name and Power Source. If you've been using the Armour of Light and other affirmations that begin "In the NAME..." and end with "And I thank [the Power Source]...," your subconsciousness will pay attention to this affirmation as well. I try to keep all the affirmations in this same pattern. Gradually, the inner child learns that when you use affirmations that have this specific format, that you mean business, that you are really serious.
Choosing an Experience
You may ask for or order whatever you particularly want or need as your dream content. But, be reasonable. Ask for the type of dream you want in general terms–ask for spiritual teaching, ask for an opportunity "to visit whatever spiritual realm that will enhance my spiritual growth," ask for a teacher to come in your dreams–don't ask specifically that Moses or Jesus or Buddha or Krishna visit you in your dreams or that you be lifted to the Pearly Gates to meet St. Peter.
<DIR> <DIR>
In the NAME, through the POWER and by the WORD of the Lord Christ Jesus [or your own power name], I ask that my dreams tonight be of a spiritual nature and that I converse with my angelic guides [substitute here whatever particular type of dream you want]. And, I thank the Father [or your own power source] that the dreams I have requested are granted me. AMEN.
You may also ask for an adventure dream or some dream tailored to your interests:
<DIR> <DIR>
In the NAME, through the POWER and by the WORD of the Lord Christ Jesus [or your own power name], I call upon the Dream Masters to give me a dream of [add here whatever type of adventure you’d like to have or whatever particular type of dream you want]. And, I thank the Father [or your own Power Source] and the Dream Masters that the dreams I have requested are granted to me. AMEN.
</DIR></DIR>
Again, when awaking from any such dreams, be sure to write down what you remember of the dream in Your Spiritual Journal. Were you given someone's name? Were you shown a special place? Were you given some numerals or symbols in your dream?
Sometimes you don’t get what you want; you find that your dream is not of whatever experience you asked for. But you do have a dream anyway. Often the dream you do get will have content within it that is intended to inform you as to why you did not receive the dream you ordered. Write down the dream experience anyway. Of ten, as you write down the dream, the reasons as to why you didn’t receive the dream you had asked for will become apparent to you.
REMEMBERING YOUR DREAMS
When you wake up, try not roll over or to turn over to a new position. Changing your position in bed as you wake up will often cause the dream memory or many of its details to be lost. Try to remember as you are waking up, some interesting feature of the dream. If you can hold in your memory some portion of your dream as you wake up–preferably an early detail in the dream–you can more easily recall the rest of the dream. Run through the dream in your mind before you shift the position of your body or get out of bed. This will help hold the dream in your conscious memory. Be aware of anything in your dream that you, in a waking state, would not have done or would not have done in the same way. This is an indication of where your inner self, little child, is at. Remember, we are accelerating our spiritual growth and lots of things come to us that would not be ours if we were content to allow ordinary evolution to bring us along.
You should write down your dreams in your Spiritual Notebook or Journal. Often, just the act of recording your dream will give you insight into its meaning. Actually, the Inner Child has caught the meaning and, as you write the dream down, the child will often explain the significance to you. As you begin writing down dreams as soon as you wake up, you'll begin to develop the ability to remember your dreams in greater clarity.
Some of us are able to "wake up" inside a dream and have our conscious minds make the decisions, determine the actions, etc. Some of my own dreams are quite lucid. But, for me, I (my ego or conscious mind) usually seems to be looking over shoulder of my dream mind (inner
child?). That is, my conscious mind seems to act most often as an observer of what my dream-self is doing.
HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT
This week, try the various affirmations for giving direction to your dreams and to their contents:1. Ask for a teacher or spiritual guide to come to you in the dream state.2. See what happens when you ask for an adventure dream.
3. Be sure to write down your dream experiences in your Spiritual Journal.
