Shaman : When we last met I was telling you about sharing energy with a totem
Myst : cleared
Shaman : when we ask for assistance from out totems, they not only enter our being they share a part of themselves with us
Shaman : The strength of bear
Shaman : the silent flight of Owl
Shaman : The cunning of Fox
Shaman : ect
Shaman : we all have different totems and have each shared a particular aspect of that totem
Shaman : with the one offering assistance
Shaman : We as humans often mess ourselves up with the need to label everything -
Shaman : We live by the maxim - to name a thing is to control a thing
Shaman : It is when we learn to just let go that a true and lasting bond between you and your totem can begin
Shaman : Some people have tried all sorts of short cuts, but in the long run we have to respect and honor not only our totems but ourselves
8EternalLighthouse has joined the conversation.
Shaman : otherwise we are just spitting into the wind
Myst : welcome elh to class
Shaman : Welcome to class ELH
EternalLighthouse : you told me to come, mysti, lol
EternalLighthouse : ty
Shaman : Once you have established your connection and bond with your totem
Shaman : that is when the real journey begins
Shaman : I have heard some say that we get 9 totems in our lifetime - 3 primary
Shaman : and 6 secondary
Shaman : to assist when needed
Shaman : But I have had several come and go personally
Shaman : but I have maintained the original 3
Shaman : it has been the "helper" totems (my word) that change
Shaman : depending on what is needed
Shaman : and I know a few others who have had the same experience
Shaman : I was asked why we see totems in the particular forms we do
Shaman : and my experience tells me it has to do with your past and what and how you can accept things
Shaman : Christians see angels
Shaman : I happen to see animals
Shaman : someone else sees ancient celtic warriors
Shaman : or druidic images
Shaman : my culture and heritage is NA so animals play a major role in our way of thinking
Shaman : The same attributes associated with animal totems can be applied to angelic guides
Shaman : Any questions here?
Myst : nty got it
Allan2nd : nty
spiritofthelynx : nty
EternalLighthouse : I see both animals and angels
Shaman : So we have a good example of what I was saying
Shaman : I know one of Mysti's guardians is an ancient warrior
Myst : yes
Myst : i think he is irish or something
Shaman : At least that is one aspect her totem shows
Allan2nd : scottish
Myst : i also have a NA guide
EternalLighthouse : i have dragons
Myst : but he only shows himself when i fly during meditation as a hawk
Shaman : When she needs a (for lack of a better word) big strong protector
Shaman : he appears
Myst : it seems as if he guides me
Shaman : in that form
Myst : i have not seen him in awhile tho
Shaman : When you need other guidance in the form of hawk (the messanger)
Shaman : the warrior is there as a guife
Shaman : guide
Shaman : ect ect ect
Myst : he is really awesome
Myst : he sits a horse below me
Myst : and holds a staff w/ many feathers attached to it
Myst : and his horse is painted
Shaman : So again you have a different aspect of a guide, guardian, totem, angel, (insert your favorite word here)
Shaman : It is what you need at the time you need it
Shaman : So when we go on soul retrievals
Shaman : we may all see something different with the same results
Shaman : So with shamanism there is no ONE way to do things
Shaman : that is what makes it a very compatible path to other beliefs
Shaman : Since - IMO - all other paths owe their roots in shamanism
Shaman : (waiting for the responses-lol)
Myst keeps mouth shut
EternalLighthouse : but it is true
Allan2nd agrees with shaman
Shaman : Shamanism was the founding mother/father of all beliefs
Shaman : But that is a history lesson for another class
Allan2nd :
Myst : history!!
Myst : hehe
Shaman : So when we are "working"
Shaman : what is the primary rule?
Shaman : For each path it is different
EternalLighthouse : protection
Myst : permission
Shaman : Okay lets take protection first (good answer btw)
Allan2nd : ethics
EternalLighthouse : ty
Shaman : Who and what are we protecting?
Shaman : ourselves?
Allan2nd : both
EternalLighthouse : ourselves and other people and things
Shaman : I am speaking in a strictly shamanic sense here
EternalLighthouse : you need to protect nature along with people
Shaman : Shamanism has no rede
Shaman : So the harm none out the window
Shaman : many shamans sacrifice animals
EternalLighthouse : yes
Shaman : So ELH had it correct when you said ourselves
8MaliceTheDarkOne has joined the conversation.
Shaman : Shamans have reverence for nature
Shaman : Welcome Malice to class
Host ForestCentralTree kicked MaliceTheDarkOne out of the chat room: Access Ban - Permanent )
Myst : sorry
Myst : evil evil person
Shaman : But we have to protect ourselves first
Myst : please continue bro
EternalLighthouse : yes
Shaman : again from a shamanic point of view
Shaman : and we best protect ourselves with guidance and help from our totems/guides/guardians/ect
Shaman : It is that sharing of energy and knowledge that allows us to grow and become what we should be
Shaman : for we are all on a never ending journey of growth and learning
Shaman : Allan you said ethics - that covers a huge area - and one I plan on delving into at a later date
Shaman : that will be a couple of classes by itself lol
Shaman : Permission falls under the ethics umbrella as well
Shaman : One of the basic tenets in life is to treat each other with respect - because what you put out there will come back to you in many forms
Shaman : so be careful
Shaman : Sorry got sidetracked
EternalLighthouse : lol
Shaman : Any questions so far about the different aspects of totems?
Allan2nd : understand the shamans "rede",lol
Myst : nty.. got it
Allan2nd : nty
spiritofthelynx : nty
EternalLighthouse : no, I have looked into totems
EternalLighthouse : because it fit me
Shaman : Good
Shaman : Next class we will discuss the different attributes of particular totems from a shamanic and a NA POV
Shaman : THat will be the class next friday in FOS
Myst :

Allan2nd : ty brother
Shaman : if it allows me in that is
Shaman : having troubles getting into the chat room
