Myst : cleared
Shaman : When we become ill
Shaman : either physically or mentally
Shaman : a shaman will attempt to bring that piece of us back
Shaman : This is a piece of our soul or essence that has become lost
Shaman : for what ever reason
Shaman : The role of the shaman is to travel to the otherside and bring that back
Shaman : This is done through trance and meditation
Shaman : When a shaman journeys outside of him or herself
Shaman : it is usually to one of three worlds
Shaman : The upper world is usually associated with light
Shaman : The middleworld is our waking world
Shaman : and the lower world is usually associated with darkness
Shaman : It does not matter what world a shaman journeys too, it is a wise person who asks for guidance and assistance
Shaman : from his/her totems
Shaman : While we are all connected
Shaman : there is a danger of having a part of yourself lost
Shaman : That is why I have stressed the basics
Shaman : you cannot build a house without a good foundations
Shaman : Most soul retreivals are done with one or more shamans in attendance
Shaman : Because even the best can make a mistake
Shaman : and the more people you have around you the stronger the anchor you can establish
Shaman : We have talked about the different methods used to achieve the trance state
Shaman : and once again I stress that you read the Shamanic trance papers I posted in the Library a couple of years ago
Shaman : before you attempt trance work
Shaman : As far as achieving the trance state
Shaman : Some use a drum, a rattle, and even herbs
Shaman : to each his own way
Shaman : I personally keep a song in my head that allows me to slip into trance state easier
Shaman : I have never attempted it while taking alcohol or herbs
Shaman : so I cannot tell you if it is easier
Shaman : I would not suggest you try it
Shaman : Once you have achieved the trance state
Shaman : it is amazing what you can see
Shaman : for me
Shaman : everything has a halo
Shaman : which I interpret as the energy or aura of that object
Shaman : even so called non animate objects absorb energy
Shaman : so it is an interesting picture every time
Allan2nd : <break>
Shaman : I personally ask my totems for help and explain in detail what I need before I begin
Shaman : because once there it makes it so much more easier
Shaman : yes
Allan2nd : is there a different guide for each level
Shaman : Not for me
Allan2nd : Lower, middle and upper
Shaman : The one I need usually shows up
Shaman : If I need stealth owl or fox will come
Shaman : if I need strength bear comes
Shaman : Then there is a whole pantheon of totems who come and go - lol
Allan2nd : ok ty
Shaman : As a side note to your question - a Korean shaman once told me that colors were his guides
Shaman : he would think of a color to help and it would guide him like a light
Shaman : Just a little piece of info to share
Allan2nd : ty
Shaman : Just another example as to how there is no one way
Shaman : I lost my train of thought
Shaman : sorry
Myst : tis ok
Shaman : Found it
Shaman : Once you have your totems agreeing to assist you and someone there to help if needed
Shaman : You can begin
Shaman : I personally have my shields up at this point too
Shaman : The white light technique works best for me
Shaman : again it is whatever works for you
Shaman : I cannot stress this enough
Shaman : there is no ONE way
Shaman : each person has different needs and abilities
Shaman : all I offer are ways that I know work for me and what I have heard others share as to what works for them
Shaman : In that aspect shamanism is more freer
Shaman : that most paths
Shaman : and that is why it blends so well with other paths
Shaman : There are some forms of shamanism that use animal sacrifice
Shaman : They sacrifice the animal in exchange for help in the other worlds
Shaman : and some believe that the sacrificed animal will help them
Shaman : The important thing to note here is that this is not done lightly
Shaman : I personally do not sacrifice animals
Shaman : But those that do, do it reverently
Shaman : Blood is the lifesource
Shaman : and has great power
Shaman : But I have never felt the need to do a blood sacrifice
Shaman : To me it just is not a comfortable thing
Shaman : to use anothers blood
Shaman : if it is needed I will use my own
Shaman : Any questions so far?
Allan2nd : nty
spiritofthelynx : nty
Myst : nty
SnowDragon : no
Shaman : Okay
Shaman : I know most people think of blood sacrifice as the left hand path
Shaman : but like all things
Shaman : there are light and dark
Shaman : I do not advocate it nor do I denounce it
Shaman : it just is
Shaman : as long as it is used for the right purpose
Shaman : Among the NA cultures we thank the deer for it's sacrifice
Shaman : as well as the plant
Shaman : When we eat, we usually do not think about where our food came from
Shaman : only that it is just food
Shaman : but everything we eat was alive at one point
Shaman : and by giving of itself, it allows us to grow and thrive
Shaman : Most Christians have prayer before a meal
Shaman : Instead of thanking God for the food, we thank the spirit of the food we are about to eat
Shaman : See the connections and how they blend?
Allan2nd : ;
Allan2nd : ;
spiritofthelynx : yes
Shaman : Do you have a question?
Allan2nd : yes
Myst : yes i see
Myst : and no .. o questions
Shaman : ok
Shaman : Follow along now
Shaman : By eating the chicken, pig, cow, fish ect
Shaman : we take a part of it into ourselves
8svaha_storm has joined the conversation.

Myst : break
Shaman : So when we travel the realms on a soul retrieval
Shaman : yes
Myst : when i meditate sometimes i journey as a hawk.. is this what you are speaking of?
Shaman : Yes is the respect that the hawk is an established totem
Shaman : It is sharing it's energy with you
Shaman : allowing you along for the ride as it were
Shaman : Those aspects of the animals we have as totems become ours for a short time
Shaman : and assist us in our journeys and protect us
Shaman : This feels like a good place to stop for this week
Myst : very good class bro ty
