This sentence is to keep your mind focused on the present moment. According to Frans and Bronwen Stiene in The Reiki Sourcebook, it is a typical Buddhist idea. Tomorrow never comes. This idea is also detailed in Eckhart Tolle's work, "Practicing the Power of Now" in which he says only the present moment is real." Notice also that affirmations are always formed in the present tense. There is only the present. The present moment is the place where reality is experienced. Finally, Deepak Chopra refers to it as 'the gap' between thoughts and both he and quantum scientists say that it is the place where we manifest our desires and create our reality. As long as the principles are being practiced "today" they are being practiced every moment of your life.
