It is a spiritual truth that nobody is greater or lesser than anyone else. Nobody's path is greater or more correct than any other person's path. To paraphrase Tohei Koichi, the great aikido master, the mountain does not look down on the stream and say that it is lowly, nor does the river look up at the mountain thinking that it is great. This does not mean that we should lack respect for others but it is possible to respect somebody for their good points without putting yourself in a lower position. We are all equally deserving of respect. To be humble means to understand and accept this spiritual truth. In practical terms this means that you should be true to yourself. To trust the experience that you are having is right for you regardless of what others are doing. Do not turn from what is true for you because you think that, somehow, somebody's seemingly grander life is more "right" than yours. None is greater and all must teach That we are each as one within the heart of love.[/center]
